Through three, one hour sessions, OD&L will partner with leaders and team members to change behavior through an experiential approach to learning and guided application exercises. Each Experiential Learning Program consists of both education and in-class learning application. Teams will work together to produce tangible action plans that can be immediately applied back on-the-job.

Build High Performing Teams

Participants will participate in a unique opportunity to develop core competencies related to becoming a High Performing Team.  Individuals will gain a practical understanding of how to assess and sustain effective team performance. This course is will supply tools and strategies to identify opportunities for growth and development related to overcoming the 5 dysfunctions of a team.

Key Learning Points:

  • Understand expectations and characteristics within a cohesive team
  • Apply a model to identify how leaders and team members can accelerate team cohesion and performance
  • Evaluate where the team is meeting expectations and where it needs to improve
  • Discover techniques and skills to transform team engagement and ensure effective communication, decision making and involvement.
Effectively Managing Conflict

Participants will achieve improved results in team performance and engagement through a thorough understanding of conflict.  Three types of conflict will be discussed; intrapersonal conflict, interpersonal conflict, and intergroup conflict.  Participants will be taught the Thomas Killman Conflict Model and the associated conflict-handling styles.  Discussion on appropriate methods of conflict resolution and best practices will arm the participant with tools that may be used immediately.

Strategies for Innovation

Participants will gain an understanding of innovation. They will learn how to recognize and reinforce factors that foster a culture of innovation and articulate the importance of driving innovation at Fairview. Participants will understand key principals of innovation and apply them to produce innovative solutions at work. They will leverage tools and strategies to help identify opportunities for innovation and then implement those strategies to drive innovation within their department.

Implementing Change

Participants will gain an understanding of change by learning about stages of transitions, stages of concerns and Kotter’s  8 Steps to Change Management.  They will learn how to recognize what stages they are in based on analysis of their behavior and will create action plans to move forward through the change.   They will leverage tools and resources to help identify opportunities for understanding and efficiency to drive change within their work and department.

Committing to Communication

Participants will achieve improved results in team performance and engagement through a deeper understanding of effective communication. The importance of alignment and pride will be discussed through practical examples. Ways to create pride will be identified. Character-based and competency-based behaviors will be outlined to build trust. Participants will create an action plan to commit to communication.

Key Learning Points:

  • Discuss ways to improve communication at all levels within Fairview
  • Compare and contrast the Communication 1.0 vs Communication 2.0 models
  • Create alignment in when and how people communicate by learning
Strategic Thinking

The Strategic Thinking series will teach teams basic strategy and implementation tools to successfully manage projects, change initiatives, and enhance daily work. Participants will drive implementation strategies and take control of decisions to effectively produce better results together. The team will challenge one another to think differently and build confidence to generate positive outcomes.
